International Year of Chemistry and Golden Jubilee Year
Science Exhibition at Maris Stella College
                                           22nd  and 23rd July 2011.
Science without experiment would be like a human body without life and science education would be complete only when learnt with full knowledge of its real life applications. The two-day exhibition was inaugurated on Friday as part of the celebrations conducted by the college to mark the International Year of Chemistry and also its golden jubilee year. The science exhibition organized by the Chemistry, Physics, and Biological sciences departments at Maris Stella College attracted the attention of students from different colleges and schools, even the scientific models exhibited there served to inculcate the scientific temper among the young visitors. There were exhibits on a wide range of scientific facts and experiments to capture the imagination of the students
Department of Physics has organized an exhibition on “Physics in Every day Life” on 22nd and 23rd July 2011 at the Physics Laboratories, Maris Stella College. This exhibition captured the imagination of students and they exhibited many models. Students worked for more than a month and various aspects of daily life explained through thought-provoking models. Simple experiments based on reflection refraction, interference diffraction and polarisation were exhibited Students designed working models like wind turbines, electrical motor,  hydral power project, solar energy, models based on principles of pulleys like elevator, Cranes, models based on sensors like ‘Sensor controlled Robot’, current sensor, gas leakage detector, archery, single pole. bridge model, turbochet, battery level indicator, roller coaster, remote controlled fan, hybrid electric vehicle etc. All these models were designed out of things that are available at home. Students aIso made static models on Tsunami detector, global warming and expressed their views through drawings, paintings and captivating captions on charts. Thus the Exhibition provided a rich practical experience in understanding and designing of Physics Model and inculcated scientific temper among students.
